By Tommy Goudge (January 16, 2011) – Five Star Racing Products of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada has been producing high quality Modified-Lite race car chassis and components since 2006. Now, Five Star Racing Products is proud to announce their entry into the Sprint Car market with a factory team, custom-built chassis, and full line of components.
Five Star Racing Products has built and sold 30 new race cars since 2006, and continues to make significant changes to their chassis design based on customer feedback and on-track testing. Company co-founders Adam Murphy and Mark Brighton are both active racing competitors, and use their on-track experience to constantly improve the product. Five Star’s new Sprint Car venture will be approached the same way. Their Sprint Car chassis is not a cookie-cutter design, and will evolve over time with extensive research and development.
“The design of the front end has been re-engineered to reduce the amount of weld-affected areas, permitting a more uniform and controlled flex zone in front of the engine compartment,” says Five Star president Adam Murphy. “The traditional diagonal bracing has been modified in several places – including the front end – in order to reduce areas affected by welding. The reduction of weld-affected areas allows for more even flex, and an overall more consistent chassis. We have also incorporated some bolt-in components that will allow flex tuning to different track conditions.”
2009 Ohsweken Speedway Sprint Car champion Tom Huppunen will drive the Five Star factory Sprint Car in 2011, and championship car owner and former Sprint Car driver Fred Cade will be the Five Star team’s full-time research and development driver. Both have a hand in the design of the Five Star Sprint Car chassis.
“I’m excited to have been chosen to be a part of the Five Star Team,” says Tom Huppunen. “Not only will I have the opportunity to pilot their house car, but I also have a hand in the design and building of the chassis and selection of only the highest quality bolt-on components. I’m also excited that Fred Cade will play a part this season, testing some radical ideas for suspension design which may find their way into the house car during the season. As their name suggests, the Five Star Sprint Car will be top notch.”
Five Star Racing Products will also be carrying a complete line of Sprint Car components from Ti22 Performance, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Sweet Manufacturing, Winters Performance, and Top Flight Wings. Five Star will also be able to provide fibreglass Sprint Car body panels.
